FATA NASCIM, FEUDI DEL PISCIOTTO’S SOLIDARITY LABEL

Feudi del Pisciotto launches a solidarity project in support of the people of Niscemi.

It is called Fata Nascim, an ancient name and expression of Arab-medieval origin, linked to the toponymic and legendary tradition of Niscemi, meaning “Fairy of the Wind” or “Fairy of the Gentle Breeze.” A wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon (50%) and Merlot (50%), it was created as a gesture of closeness and good wishes: a hope that a renewed air, one that restores and allows new beginnings, may begin to blow. Fata Nascim is a tribute to Niscemi and its people, to the memory that unites, and to the quiet strength with which one begins again.

“A gesture of closeness that we also wished to make as a sign of gratitude towards this land, where our winemaking and hospitality venture with the resort began many years ago,” says Paolo Panerai, founder of Class Editori and wine producer in Tuscany. In the 1990s, Panerai decided to acquire and restore the imposing 18th-century baglio, which houses an ancient palmento — the largest in eastern Sicily — once owned by the Branciforte family and later left abandoned for many years.

“At such a difficult time for Niscemi, we welcome this gesture of solidarity with great appreciation,” says Mayor Massimiliano Valentino Conti. “The idea of dedicating a wine to the town and donating part of the proceeds to support reconstruction is a sign of closeness that we truly value. We are pleased that a company such as Feudi del Pisciotto, which over the years has contributed to the development of our local economy by attracting tourists from all over the world as well as wine enthusiasts, is showing such sensitivity towards the territory. Difficult moments are overcome with everyone’s support, by joining forces and looking to the future with confidence.”

Feudi del Pisciotto also represents a unique heritage thanks to its history. On July 12, 2025, it was officially designated a “Place of Memory”: here, when German soldiers were still occupying Sicily, American paratroopers fought against a column of around 700 men. The walls of the Palmento still bear the marks of that clash.Today, with the launch of Fata Nascim, Feudi del Pisciotto renews its bond with the Val di Noto and Niscemi, expressing its gratitude to a community that has played a decisive role in the growth of an estate now appreciated internationally, not only for the quality of its wines, but also for the refined hospitality that attracts guests from all over the world each year.

Tasting notes: intense ruby red in colour. On the nose, ripe red and black fruits emerge — cherry, blackberry and plum — accompanied by subtle spicy and balsamic notes. On the palate, it is well balanced, with present yet soft tannins, good structure and a persistent finish.

Pairings: ideal with red meats, roasts, braised meats, pasta with meat ragù and aged cheeses. It also pairs beautifully with flavourful Sicilian dishes, such as meat rolls, caponata or eggplant parmigiana.
