CHIANTI CLASSICO 2025 DOCG
Castellare di Castellina presents the new vintage of Chianti Classico with its new bird on the label! In October, the new vintage of Castellare di Castellina’s Chianti Classico arrives on our tables, together with the new bird that each year highlights the winery’s commitment to protecting endangered species through sustainable viticulture.
Made exclusively from native grape varieties, Sangiovese (90%) and Canaiolo (10%), Chianti Classico 2025 is an authentic wine that captures the essence of the region with class and elegance.
The 2025 label features the cuckoo, a gray bird with a white-striped breast, known for the “cuckoo” call from which it takes its name. It has a peculiar trait: the female lays her eggs in the nests of other birds, which incubate them unaware. It has found its natural habitat at Castellare thanks to environmentally friendly viticulture. By scanning the QR code on the label, you can listen to its call and discover a few more details.
The 2025 Harvest
In Chianti Classico, the vintage was surprisingly balanced: no long periods of excessive heat and well-distributed rainfall. A harsh and prolonged winter ensured the vines a complete vegetative rest. Spring, with stable temperatures and no late frosts, ensured uniform budbreak. Summer confirmed the trend, with a mild and breezy July and significant temperature variations between day and night, which allowed the vineyards to maintain a good water reserve until veraison.
In early September, the healthy, uniform Sangiovese clusters already pointed to a high-quality harvest.
The result is a Chianti Classico with a crisp aromatic profile, a tannic structure that is present but never excessive, and a freshness that could well be the hallmark of the vintage.
