A WINE FOR NISCEMI

Feudi del Pisciotto launches a solidarity project to support the town of Niscemi.

It is called Fata Nascim, the ancient name of Niscemi meaning “Fairy of the light breeze.” It is the new label based on Cabernet Sauvignon (50%) and Merlot (50%) launched by Feudi del Pisciotto so that a wind of renewal may begin to blow through the town of Niscemi. A solidarity initiative whose net proceeds from sales will be donated to aid projects for the population affected by a devastating landslide.

“This is a gesture we wished to make also as a sign of gratitude toward this land, where our winemaking and hospitality adventure with the resort began many years ago,” says Paolo Panerai, founder of Class Editori and a wine producer in Tuscany, who in the 1990s decided to acquire and restore the impressive 18th-century baglio featuring an ancient Palmento, the largest in eastern Sicily, once owned by the Branciforte family and later left abandoned for many years.

“At such a difficult moment for Niscemi, we welcome this gesture of solidarity with great appreciation,” says Mayor Massimiliano Valentino Conti. “The idea of dedicating a wine to the town and allocating the proceeds to support reconstruction is a sign of closeness that we deeply value. We are pleased that a company like Feudi del Pisciotto, which over the years has contributed to the development of our local economy by attracting tourists and wine lovers from all over the world, is showing such sensitivity toward the territory. Difficult moments can only be overcome with everyone’s support, by joining forces and looking confidently toward the future.”

Today, Feudi del Pisciotto encompasses 50 hectares of vineyards and houses within its charming historic walls a 15-room Wine Relais, awarded the Michelin Key 2025, as well as the restaurant Il Palmento di Feudi. Beside it stands the modern winery, which currently produces 250,000 bottles. It is a landmark enterprise in the Val di Noto area, ensuring stable employment opportunities for the local community.

Feudi del Pisciotto also represents a unique historical heritage. On July 12, 2025, it was officially declared a “Place of Memory”: here, while German troops still occupied Sicily, American paratroopers fought against a column of approximately 700 men. The walls of the Palmento still bear the marks of that battle.

With the launch of Fata Nascim, Feudi del Pisciotto expresses its gratitude to a community that has played a decisive role in the growth of a reality appreciated internationally, not only for the quality of its wines but also for the refined hospitality that every year attracts guests from all over the world.
